The latest companies to be linked with a potential acquisition of Hit Entertainment are Mattel and Hasbro, with the toy giants lining up alongside Disney and Viacom according to The Telegraph today.

Apax is close to appointing either UBS or Bank of America Merrill Lynch to manage the sales process of Hit, says the story.

It is also now hopeful of selling the firm in its entirity, rather than only offloading the Thomas & Friends brand.

In recent weeks a number of names have been linked with a possible takeover, or purchase of Thomas, including Chorion.
