Chorion has inked two major broadcast deals with Five in the UK and France 5 for the new series of pre-school favourite Noddy.
Based on the book by Enid Blyton (which has continuously been in print since 1949), Noddy in Toyland is currently in production and will broadcast respectively in spring and summer 2009 on Five's Milkshake and on Les Zouzous on France 5.
"The new Noddy in Toyland is inspired by Enid Blyton's original books and we are excited to bring a fresh, contemporary animated series to a whole new group of pre-school children, building on the heritage of the property," said Geraint Marsh, head of TV sales at Chorion. "We value our long standing relationship with Five and France 5, committed and supportive partners of Noddy."
Nick Wilson, director of children's programming at Five, added: "The 60th anniversary is a great time to launch a new series of Noddy. Noddy in Toyland is strong on story, funny and full of colour and life. It's a great addition to the Milkshake schedule."
The licensing programme for the brand is already well underway, with NSR as master toy licensee, Spin Master as distributor in the UK, Lansay in France and Bandai in Spain.
