Chorion has signed a number of new licensing deals for The World of Eric Carle, also bringing on board CPLG as its new agent for Benelux.
In the US, Crayola will kick off its relationship with the brand with a large format colouring book; JEM will produce tees for juniors and children; Zoobies is planning to bring its patent-pending 3-in-1 plush, pillow, blanket concept to the property's characters; and Carson-Dellosa will produce a range of classroom products including bulletin board sets, borders, cut-outs and work holders.
In addition, Leapfrog Enterprises has signed up to produce the Panda Bear, Panda Bear, What Do You See? book for its Tag Junior system.
Continuing on from the success last summer in the US with The World of Eric Carle, Applebee's Neighbourhood Grill and Bar - which boasts almost 2,000 outlets - will distribute a themed Family Activity Booklet throughout the spring.
Moving into Europe, and CPLG will now represent the licensing rights throughout Benelux. This week's Licensing International show will mark the company's debut as brand sub agent, focusing on signing deals in the toy, apparel and homeware categories. CPLG has already signed up Interstat for a new line of stationery.
In the UK, The Very Hungry Caterpillar will feature as part of the Butterfly World Project, which opens this month in St Albans. In addition, Character World will be producing bedroom ranges based on the property including duvet covers, curtains, cushions, towels, blankets and rugs, while Trademark Collections will roll out a range of children's bags.
"The World of Eric Carle is an evergreen property which maintains a contemporary feel and continues to delight children around the world," said Eric Karp, EVP of global licensing and merchandising at Chorion. "We are excited to be bringing new products to the market and starting new initiatives for the brand as we continue a year of celebrations for the 40th anniversary of Eric Carle's most beloved character, The Very Hungry Caterpillar."
