According to Barb figures for February, the new Thomas & Friends TV series has posted a 75 per cent audience increase for children aged four to nine in the first two weeks of launch in the UK. This is compared to the same two-week time period in 2009.
Overall children's audience for the series increased 64 per cent, with a particular spike in female viewers (68 per cent).
The new CGI series launched on January 25th and airs daily at 8.25am on Five.
"As we celebrate Thomas' 65th anniversary, everyone's favourite true blue engine is delivering more fans than ever before," said Christopher Skala, executive producer of Thomas & Friends at Hit Entertainment. "This is a watershed year for Thomas and his engine friends and we're delighted that even more fans are tuning into Milkshake."
