The New York music venue and the birthplace of some of the most iconic rock bands in history CBGB, is ramping up its licensing activity.
CBGB has signed Epic Right to oversee the global branding, licensing and rights as the venue looks to expand in to new fashion lines, accessories, footwear, electronics, beverages and entertainment.
The new product line will aim to embody the classic punk, post punk, glam rock, new wave and grunge music genres, synonymous with the iconic venue.
“True music fans worldwide know CBGB as the birthplace of some of the greatest rock and punk bands in history,” said Dell Furano, CEO of Epic Rights.
“What made CBGB so special was the fact that it was gritty, real, hardcore, everything that rock is supposed to be. Musicians, actors, artists all wanted to hang out at CBGB, and today, they all want to be associated with its raw, unadulterated and non-conformist, anything goes attitude.”
The new partnership with Epic Rights will also see the firm head up promotion for the annual CBGB Music and Film Festival, which kicks off this October. The five day festival will feature performances from Jane’s Addiction, Macy Gray, We Are Scientists and more.
“CBGB was the home for countless artists, misfits and rebels,” added president of CBGB, Tim Hayes. “No one cared what you looked like and everyone took care of each other. In a way, CBGB became a tightly-knit international family of musicians, artists and fans.
“The same strong spirit of CGBG continues today. We are excited about working with Epic Rights as we expand the CBGB attitude around the world.”
