Surtex 2011 will open its doors on May 15th - with the dedicated art and design show celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.
The show runs until Tuesday May 17th at New York's Jacob K Javits Convention Center.
It will host almost 300 exhibitors from 12 different countries on four continents, representing the work of more than 1,000 artists and designers. Between 5,000 and 6,000 manufacturers, retailers and licensing executives are expected to attend.
More than three quarters of the exhibitors will be focusing on licensing their art, with the others selling it outright.
For the first time, the show will also be colour-coded to aid visitors.
"When Surtex began - with fewer than 100 exhibitors - there was really no such thing as manufacturers licensing original art for use on their products," said Penny Sikalis, manager of Surtex and VP of show producer GLM. "Putting a name to a product, even if it's not yet a well-known name, or a particular style, has great value-added appeal for consumers. Today, terrific designs can be seen on a myriad of products - and they sell."
