Nickelodeon UK has launched Dora's Great Big World, a new application for nickjr.co.uk which will form a key part of the digital offering for the brand's tenth anniversary.
The online world will sit on the relaunched Dora microsite and will encourage pre-schoolers to engage with the characters through learning and play.
From launch of the application, pre-schoolers are presented with a map based on Dora's map from the show. Children can then choose a location to visit and are encouraged to explore and engage by customising the world, adding stickers and playing games which they have to unlock.
Dora's Great Big World will launch with one location on the map, but will offer a new one each month over a ten-month roll out. Included in the planned areas will be locations from the show such as Crystal Kingdom, Dora's School and Wizzle World.
"Dora the Explorer continues to play a significant role in nickjr.co.uk's continued growth and success, with online traffic up for the Dora microsite 525 per cent year on year," said Roy Edmonds, digital director at Nickelodeon. "Dora's Great Big World is a fantastic place for children to engage and play online, and is a key part of our digital plans to celebrate Dora's tenth birthday."
