C21 has reported that Nickelodeon UK has given the thumbs up to a series of shorts from Cosgrove Hall Films.
Eddie Retractorhead is a series of 10x1-minute interstitals and will air exclusively on the channel from 2008. Cosgrove Hall Films is hoping the set of short animated gags might evolve into a longform series if it becomes a hit.
The character apparently lives in an inflatable pie house with his best friend Blam Bob in Area 52, a special place that attracts only the 'weirdest and craziest' characters.
"Eddie Retractorhead is a perfect fit for Nickelodeon and further enhances our strong line-up of shortform programming," said Howard Litton, MD of Nick UK (pictured).
Anthony Utley, MD of Cosgrove Hall Films, added: "These shortform animated interstitals are an ideal way to launch the Eddie Retractorhead brand into the marketplace, and the versatile format lends itself to exploitation across both traditional and digital platforms."
