Nickelodeon reveals summer of events for Asian market

Retail activity planned across Hong Kong, Indonesia, Taiwan and the Philippines.

Nickelodeon's classic properties, Spongebob Squarepants and Dora the Explorer, will be hosting a series of retail events across Asia this summer.

Organsied by Nickelodeon & Viacom Consumer Products, events will include meet and greets, fashion shows and live shows.

The live events mark a shift up in gear for NVCP activity in Asia, and are being backed by local licensees including Cheung Kong Holdings in Hong Kong, Tunjungan Plaza in Indonesia and SM Mall of Asia in the Philippines. They will be supporting the activity with giveaways and product prizes.

In Hong Kong, eight Fortune Malls across the territory are hosting Spongebob Squarepants through August with a range of activities, including fashion shows, photo corners, raffle draws and designated retail areas.

Each of the venues is theming the events with its own individual look and feel.

In Indonesia, the Spongebob Krabby Patty Celebration live show is running until August 26th, with a total of 40 performances at the Tunjungan Plaza Mall in Surabaya.

The live shows are supported by a Nickelodeon retail area selling a range of products from PT Citra Sastra, PT Adinata and Joey Sasmita Lencana.

In Taiwan, a Dora retail promotion ran at Dream Mall in Kaoshiung earlier in the summer. Products in sale during the events included stationery, publishing, footwear, apparel and homeware.

Dora was also the star at the Dora Masquerade Ball Fashion Show held at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City in the Philippines last month.
