Ragdoll Production's pre-school show In the Night Garden has been awarded the Best Children's Television Programme in 2010 by the members of the Voice of The Listener & Viewer.

The VLV hosts annual awards for excellence in broadcasting, nominated and voted for by its members.

"The award means that much more because of the immense respect, indeed gratitude, we programme makers feel for the VLV, particularly in light of their work in the children's area," said creator of ITNG, Andrew Davenport. "Television is the perfect playful medium and - especially in today's climate - it is a fantastic resource that we cannot afford to neglect or marginalise.

"So I believe very much in the positive power of television for children and am especially grateful for the significant support we continue to receive from the VLV."

In the Night Garden Live is currently touring the UK, appearing at Meadowhall in Sheffield until May 2nd. It will then visit Metrocentre, Gateshead; Trafford Centre, Manchester; Woburn Abbey, Milton Keynes; Bute Park, Cardiff; Old Deer Park, Richmond; and Bewl Water, Tunbridge Wells.
