Fuji Television has picked up all licensing rights to Ludorum's pre-school property Chuggington in Japan - including broadcast, consumer products, home entertainment and publishing.
Fuji Television - which has access to Japan's estimated 50 million TV households - has acquired 52 x ten-minute episodes of the show, which will begin broadcasting this summer. A consumer products line will follow in spring 2010.
Chuggington has now been sold to over 140 countries around the world. Recent launches include Super RTL in Germany, ABC in Australia and Treehouse in Canada.
The show will launch on France's TF1 today (April 1st) and in other key territories throughout the rest of 2009.
"We are extremely pleased to be partnering with Fuji TV, the leading commercial broadcaster in Japan," said Charlie Caminada, COO of Ludorum. "This agreement opens up significant opportunities for Chuggington in the Japanese market and we look forward to working with Fuji in building the brand in this key territory."
Koichi Uchida, senior director of Fuji TV's home video department, added: "Fuji TV looks forward very much to building Chuggington into a huge success in Japan."
