A new app is to launch for the classic picture book, Paddington, while the full range of Paddington Bear books are to be made available as ebooks.

The app has been adapted by HarperCollins Children's Books and Bold Creative for iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. It enables children and parents to read and experience the story together in a new way. It is available for £3.99.

"We're proud to bring Paddington to the iPad," said Tom Conway, digital publishing manager at HarperCollins Children's Books. "This is not just an electronic version of the book - it's a new way of telling, and sharing, a much-loved story."

Martin Orton, MD at Bold Creative, added: "The Paddington app is a landmark. We've pushed the story and how it's experienced and shared to a completely new level."

Paddington Bear

Paddington Bear is in some illustrious company; he shares his 50th birthday this year with, amongst others, the Lego brick, the Smurfs, the Grammys and The Osmonds (it?s amazing what a quick search on Google will turn up).
