Licensing.biz understands that the organiser of Licensing International, Advanstar, is expected to make an announcement within the next few weeks over the location of the US event in 2009.

Rumours had been rife at this week's Brand Licensing Europe show in London that Licensing International could move away from New York's Javits exhibition centre in favour of Las Vegas after next year.

LIMA president Charles Riotto exclusively told Licensing.biz: "Both show organiser Advanstar and show sponsor LIMA are still in the process of analysing which scenario would provide the best possible situation for the overall licensing industry.

"Both venues have their advantages and it is a matter of deciding which makes the most sense for the greater majority. The final decision rests with Advanstar and they are expected to have an announcement within the next few weeks."

Licensing International boasts that it showcases more than 6,000 brands annually, attracting over 520 brand owners and licensing agents and more than 23,000 key decision-making retailers, manufacturers and marketing professionals.
