The director of Pineapple Squared's new online boys' property, Orsum Island, has been elected to the Hall of Fame at this year's Cult TV awards.

David Lane collected the accolade at the recent annual Cult TV Festival. The honour comes for the contribution he has made to TV and cinema during his long career.

His credits include Thunderbirds - both the original movie and television series - Muppet Treasure Island, Superman, Supergirl, Santa Claus the Movie and the new Captain Scarlet series.

Along with concept creator and development director David Mitton, and producer Michele Fabian Jones, Lane is one of the driving forces behind Orsum Island. The show is aimed at boys between eight and 12 and will launch interactively on the web and TV, with the first 13 episodes completed for summer 2008.

"David is one of the stalwarts of the British television and film industry," said Fabian Jones. "We are very excited to be working with him on Orsum Island and we are delighted that his distinguished career has been recognised."
