Classic character Paddington Bear is making the move onto the big screen.
Studiocanal is teaming up with Harry Potter producer David Heyman and director Paul King - responsible for Bafta-nominated comedies Come Fly With Me and The Mighty Boosh - for the adaptation of Michael Bond's books.
Studiocanal will finance and distribute the movie in the UK, France and Germany. It will also handle sales to the rest of the world outside these territories.
Drawing inspiration from the book series, the currently untitled movie has been described as a modern take on Paddington.
Heyman said: "Paddington Bear is a universally loved character, treasured for his optimism, his sense of fair play and his perfect manners - and of course his unintentional talent for comic chaos.
"Michael Bond's books offer such wit and wonder, and I am so delighted at this chance to bring Paddington to the big screen."
Olivier Courson, chairman and CEO of Studiocanal, added: "Mr Bond's Paddington is beloved across generations throughout the world. And David Heyman has had tremendous success adapting great British literary works for cinema."
