Publishing specialist Parragon is launching a new line of story/activity books and other products for children aged six and above this month, called Glitterbelle.
The first four titles in the series are due to hit shelves this month.
The new product series stars Glitterbelle, a modern-day princess who is smart, funny and very enthusiastic. She loves her parents (the King and the Queen), adores her pet dog Bob, enjoys racing around on her scooter and can often be found climbing trees with her best friends Dazzlina and Angel. Like all princesses, Glitterbelle has pretty dresses covered in sequins, but she prefers wearing leggings and her glittery trainers.
Rachel Lawrence, head of children’s publishing at Parragon, said: “We are delighted to be launching Glitterbelle. A real princess for our time, Glitterbelle has best friends, pets and hobbies just like us. With key brand values such as friendship, teamwork, overcoming differences and embracing individual personalities, Glitterbelle provides a relatable world for modern children – with extra sparkle.”
Glitterbelle’s world is brought to life through elaborate, miniature sets, each created by illustrator, Harriet Muncaster. It all starts with a sketch. Muncaster then adds her sketches to handmade 3D scenes, using card, fabric, tiny gems, lots of glitter and whatever else she can find to build up Glitterbelle's world – all by hand.
From miniature bathrooms to tiny garden settings, all with an essential touch of glitter, the Glitterbelle artwork concept is a fresh new approach. Scenes in the Glitterbelle series are photographs of the delicately and intricately made sets.
The new Glitterbelle series launches with four books including Glitterbelle: The Sparkliest Princess Ever, a colourful picture book; Glitterbelle: Me and You, a fill-in journal with a special Glitterbelle touch; Glitterbelle: Doodle, Dazzle, Create, a fun and creative activity book; and Glitterbelle: Dazzling Dress-Up, a dress-up sticker activity book for the aspiring fashionista.
