Penguin Young Readers Group imprint, Grosset & Dunlap, has picked up the North American publishing rights for pre-school brand Octonauts.
The firm will publish and distribute Octonauts TV tie-in books across the US and Canada, with the first titles due for launch in autumn/winter 2014.
Grosset & Dunlap will publish the titles across a variety of physical and digital formats including readers, storybooks, sticker with activity books, e-books and an enhanced e-book.
"Publishing plays a vital role in a child's engagement with Octonauts as it allows them to revisit the creatures and characters they've seen on TV and reinforces the educational messages that the programme delivers while having great fun at the same time," said Geraint Marsh, SVP global TV distribution and consumer products (Americas and France) at Silvergate.
"We're delighted to be partnering with Penguin and believe that Octonauts will be a valued addition to their excellent children's catalogue."
Francesco Sedita, president and publisher of Grosset & Dunlap, added: "We're thrilled to be the official North American publishing partner for Octonauts and we look forward to introducing young readers to marine biology through this fun and entertaining property."
