Penguin has acquired the film tie-in publishing rights for The Peanuts Movie, with a sticker activity book and a book of the film on the way.
The Peanuts Movie will land in UK cinemas on December 21st and Penguin now has the English language publishing rights in selected territories for the nought to seven years market from Peanuts Worldwide.
In 2013, Penguin Children’s acquired English language publishing rights in selected territories for classic Peanuts titles for the nought to seven years market. Merry Christmas Snoopy! was published in October 2014 under the Puffin imprint and the publishing programme is set to expand throughout this year.
"We are incredibly excited to be adding The Peanuts Movie to our range of classic Peanuts publishing," said Emily Campan, licensed publishing executive, Penguin Children's.
"The new movie will delight fans young and old and I’m very proud that Puffin is playing a role in introducing the Peanuts gang to a new generation."
Directed by Ice Age's Steve Martino, The Peanuts Movie will see Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Lucy, Linus and the rest of the gang make their big-screen debut in 3D animation.
Tara Botwick, director of international licensing at Peanuts Worldwide, added: “It’s an incredibly exciting year for Peanuts. Not only is it the 65th Anniversary of the brand, but it’s the year of the highly anticipated Peanuts Movie from 20th Century Fox and Blue Sky Studios.
"Partnering with Penguin on publishing focused around this momentous event is a great way to reach new generations of fans.”
