Sales of Peppa Pig DVDs in the UK have now passed the two million mark, according to E1 Entertainment.

Sales took three years to hit one million, a feat which was reached just 14 months ago.

There are now ten Peppa Pig DVDs available, with eight of these in the Top 100 Children's chart, and more planned to capitalise on the character's continuing popularity.

The most recent success came from The Balloon Ride, which was the top selling pre-school release, shifting 183,170 copies in 2008.

"We are, of course, thrilled that Peppa remains a firm favourite with the pre-school audience," commented Holly Gough, senior product manager for home entertainment at E1 Entertainment. "What is even more pleasing is that her popularity is, if anything, growing, as shown by the astounding sales of Peppa DVDs and continuing growth and expansion of the Peppa licensing programme to include new licensees and new themes like Princess Peppa and George Pig."
