The event was attended over Friday and Saturday March 25th and 26th by animation studio Astley Baker Davies, retailers, licensees, media, promotional brand partners and a number of celebrities including Mel C, Natasha Kaplinsky, Cerys Matthews, Alex James, Natalie Cassidy, David Baddiel, Samantha Womack, Charlie Brooks, Tamara Beckworth, Zane Lowe, Rita Simmons, Ronni Ancona, and Tina O’Brian and their families.
Stephen Lorton, commercial director of Paultons Park commented: “It’s incredibly rewarding for us to see everyone enjoying Peppa Pig World.
"For the past two years an enormous amount of energy, dedication and attention to detail has been spent translating the magic of this much-loved TV show into a theme park attraction. Judging by the faces of the children- it looks like we got it right.”
The world of Peppa Pig has been re-created in large scale by a team of designers who have been working on the project since 2009.
Set across 3.5 acres, Peppa Pig World features seven themed rides including Peppa’s Big Balloon Ride, Grandpa Pig’s Little Train, Windy Castle, Daddy Pig’s Car Ride, Grandpa Pig’s Boat Trip, Miss Rabbit’s Helicopter Flight and George’s Dinosaur Adventure.
In addition to the rides several key buildings featured in the show such as Peppa Pig and Grandpa Pig’s houses, Madame Gazelle’s School, Grandpa Dog’s Garage and the Library have been built to create the impression that children have stepped into Peppa’s world.
Rounding off the experience are animated attractions, George’s Spaceship Playzone indoor activity centre, a dedicated Peppa Pig Toy shop, a Muddy Puddles water play area, Mr Potato’s Playground outdoor play area and Daddy Pig’s Big Tummy Cafe.
To capitalise on the launch of Peppa Pig World, eOne will be launching Peppa Pig Potato City on DVD on April 18th, which features an episode set in a theme park and a behind the scenes featurette on the making of Peppa Pig World.
P2 Games will be releasing a new Nintendo DS videogame Peppa Pig: Theme Park Fun on 25th March.
Both eOne and P2 Games are working closely with Paultons to cross promote these releases. The DVD and DS game are being promoted on Paultons’ Peppa Pig World micro site and have been included in marketing mail outs. Peppa Pig World will be featured on an on-pack sticker and an insert inside copies of the new DVD.
To support the DS release, Paultons has installed special game pods in Peppa’s Toy Shop to give visitors to the park an opportunity to demo the game. In return, P2 Games has stickered Peppa Pig World on-pack the DS game and have partnered on some national media promotions.
