Last week it was Dennis the Menace, now classic children's characters Pinky and Perky are being given a refresh for the 21st century.

The pair have been given a new look including trainers, jeans and sunglasses ready to star in a CBBC show which will see them stage their own live TV show with games, gunge tanks and star guests.

It will be aimed at six to 11 year olds and produced by Lupus Films. The 52 part series will begin on CBBC towards the end of next year.

Pinky and Perky first appeared on the BBC back in 1957, attracting audiences of 15 million at their peak. The show finished in 1973.
