After proving a hit on CBBC since its launch last November, Pinky and Perky has been awarded with a daily slot on BBC1.
The show has recently been pulling in the highest ratings on CBBC. On top of this, the new-look series has been attracting broadcasting interest from around the worls, with international TV sales being handled by Granada International.
Pinky and Perky is due to air on France 3 and ABC in Australia this year, with sales also confirmed in the Nordics.
In addition, the PPC show is in the running for a number of top international awards at the International Television and Multimedia Animation Festival, being held in Portofino, Italy in April.
The pigs are being considered in several categories: Best TV Series for Tween Generation, Best Animated Character of the Year, Best Series for All Ages of the Year, Best European Production of the Year and Best Soundtrack of the Year.
The licensing programme is also taking shape - with Martin Yaffe launching its toy line in the autumn, including a megaphone, walkie-talkie headsets, a sing-a-long microphone, joke set, inflatable chairs and a remote controlled car.
"It's fantastic that Pinky and Perky are on BBC1 and that the show is up for some prestigious awards," commented Mark Hurry, PPCE legal and commercial director. "It's such a great show - the characterisation is fantastic and the scripts are hilarious.
"Unsurprisingly, the licensing community is showing huge interest and we expect to be announcing plenty more deals over the course of the year."
