After successfully being relaunched on the small screen, there are now plans afoot for Pinky and Pinky to hit theatres in a live action show.

PPC Entertprises, which holds the merchandising and licensing rights to the brand, has revealed that the duo will be brought to the stage in 2010/2011 courtesy of leading West End theatre production company, Fiery Light.

The TV show has been running on CBBC since last November and has proved to be a big draw. International TV sales are being handled by Granada, with the programme due to air on France 3 and ABC in Australia later this year, while sales have also been confirmed in the Nordics.

Fiery Light is behind the successful LazyTown Live show, while this year it will also be working on Spongebob Squarepants: The Sponge Who Could Fly, Roald Dahl's The BFG and the first ever live production of Peppa Pig.

"Pinky and Perky struck us as the perfect show to base a stage production around," said Martin Ronan, executive producer at Fiery Light. "It's fun, fast paced and has fantastic characterisation. It's got hit written all over it and we are all tremendously excited about taking Pinky and Perky live."

Pinky & Perky

Pinky and Perky are household names in the UK but most of us (!) are too young to remember watching them on the TV.
