Planeta Junior has partnered with Spanish toy brand Famosa to co-produce an animated series based on the Mutant Busters action figure toy line.

Aimed at kids aged between six and eight years old, the Mutant Busters range was first launched in 2013 and combines AR technology, digital and real life gaming.

With 52 Mutant Busters episodes in the pipeline, the series will be unveiled for the first time at the 2015 Kidscreen Summit.

Planeta Junior will hold the worldwide rights to the property for both TV and licensing opportunities.

Within the Mutant Busters world, earth has been divided in to two parts: one inhabited by humans, called La Resistance and the other, by mutants who aim to take over the planet.

“We are proud to make this highly successful toy line an audiovisual reality,” said Diego Ibanez, commercial director of Planeta Junior.

Eduardo Garagorri, CMO at Famosa, added: “We are very excited about the Mutant Busters having a leading role in a television series which will be a doubtless success.”
