European kids’ entertainment firm Planeta Junior has signed with Maya Studio to represent Mexican Skulls, Fables and Bad Day across Europe.
Through the new alliance, Planeta Junior will be responsible for managing licenses, promotions, publishing and more for the lifestyle brands through France, Italy, Portugal, Central and Eastern Europe, Greece and Turkey.
The trio of brands have already been met with positive reaction throughout Spain and Mexico.
Created by Maya Studio and inspired by Mexico’s Day of the Dead, Mexican Skulls launched in Mexico in 2008 and enjoys collaborations with the likes of Zara and co-branding agreements with The Simpsons, Star Trek, Superman and Batman.
Meanwhile, Fables is described as ‘a cheeky take on archetypal fairy tale princesses,’ while Bad Day plays on black humour and characters from classic tales, animated series and video games.
Javi Molner, founder of Maya Studio, said: “In recent years we have grown exponentially and we need to manage everything we have achieved.
“We also want to conquer new territories with Planeta Junior, a leading agent in this market. We rely on its experience and know how to establish brands and to look to the future with optimism.”
Diego Ibanez, international commercial director at Planeta Junior, added: “Javi Molner has created an impressive imaginary world out of nothing, bringing with it enormous IP potential.
“Mexican Skulls has already demonstrated how well it works on textile products, henceforth, Planeta Junior will work shoulder to shoulder with Maya Studio to develop a derivatives strategy in hardlines and publishing, as well as other categories and to translate the property’s success into other European countries like Italy and France.”
