Pokémon celebrates 20th anniversary with limited edition product line

This year marks an exciting one for Pokémon, who will be celebrating 20 years since the first games launched in Japan.

On February 27th, the firm will prepare for a period of festivities that will focus on some of the best-known Pokémon experiences, including video games, Trading Card Games (TCG) and animation.

To kick off the celebrations, a new TV ad will air during the US Super Bowl 50 on February 7th, while an app dubbed Pokémon Photo Booth has also been designed for the 20th anniversary.

Plus, limited edition toys, figurines and plush items from TOMY will also be available for fans to snap up.

In addition, fans can follow all the 2016 events at Pokemon.co.uk/20, where they can keep up to date on product details and watch video messages from some of Pokémon’s best-known followers.

Games including Pokémon Red, Pokémon Blue and Pokémon Yellow will also be relaucnhed on February 27th, on the Nintendo eShop, while three new Nintendo 2DS Special Edition bundles will also be released.

Fans of TCG can also celebrate the anniversary with the new Pokémon TCG: Generations expansion, which contains more than 110 cards to collect.
