Harry Potter author JK Rowling yesterday took the wraps off the eagerly anticipated Pottermore project.
Launching in October, the website will offer fresh background material on the characters, places and objects from the Harry Potter universe.
A million fans will have the opportunity to shape the development of Pottermore, with readers being encouraged to register on the site. Those selected will gain early access on July 31st.
Fans can shape their Pottermore experience by answering questions and being sorted into their own Hogwarts house. They will be able to play games, add comments and drawings, and interact with other characters as they move through each story.
Rowling said she already had more than half the material in note form, with the rest being especially written for the project.
In addition, Pottermore will sell all the Harry Potter books, e-books and audio books in several languages. It will be the first time the series has been available in downloadable form.
