Power Rangers will also launch its 15th TV series this month, Operation Overdrive, as part of its crystal anniversary celebrations.
Broadcast for the first time in the UK in 1993, the Power Rangers live action series was adopted from the Japanese Tokusatsu Super series. Since then 14 series have been broadcast in 22 countries along with two films and a Christmas single.
Gavin Quirk, brand manager at Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment said: “In the first instance you’ve got to take kids’ TV seriously and provide positive superhero role models, but you’ve also got to be innovative and refresh brands year on year whilst retaining certain key elements.
“Add to all of this the continued investment in production in Power Rangers’, and taking into account the great entertainment, strong values and escapism it provides for kids, and you begin to get an idea as to why it’s been so successful for so long.”
Boel Ferguson, MD, Jetix UK said: “We are extremely proud to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Power Rangers, which champions the virtues of teamwork, honesty, loyalty, responsibility, respect and friendship. It is through these values that we look forward to entertaining a whole new generation of kids.”
