Egmont Publishing Group has sealed a three-year deal with Turner CN Enterprises to create a line of books based on its Chowder property.
The agreement means that Egmont is the first licensing partner for the Cartoon Network series in the UK. It will produce colouring and activity books, plus annuals, story and novelty books.
BARB figures showed that Chowder episodes pulled in nearly three million viewers during the first quarter of 2010.
"Chowder is hilarious, we fell in love with him immediately," said David Riley, MD of Egmont. "The colourful storylines, zany characters and the show's ability to captivate children and adults alike, will underpin the success of the range when it launches at retail in October 2010."
Graham Saltmarsh, UK licensing director at TCNE, added: "This deal with Egmont for Chowder follows an extremely successful partnership for Ben 10. We are delighted to be extending our relationship with David and the Egmont team and have total confidence in their ability to translate this wonderful show to print."
