A survey of parents and kids to mark International Children's Book Day has seen Roald Dahl triumph.
Dahl was named best children's author of all time by both parents and kids.
Children picked Dahl, followed by Harry Potter author JK Rowling and Beatrix Potter third. Adults named Enid Blyton second, followed by Rowling.
Harry Potter was the favourite book character for both groups.
The report on Mail Online also said that The Gruffalo and The Cat in the Hat were second and third choice for children, while parents picked Famous Five from Blyton and Dahl's BFG.
Dahl wrote around 40 books, short story collections and poetry for children and adults. These included The BFG, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, The Twits, James and the Giant Peach and Fantastic Mr Fox.
