Q Pootle 5 is extending its European reach as WDR mediagroup joins as the brand’s licensing agent across Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Following the successful launch of the hit pre-school animated series in Germany, Snapper Productions has outlined its plans to grow the presence of Q Pootle 5 across the continent.

WDR mediagroup will now oversee the roll-out of the licensing programme after the success of the show on KiKA, where it achieved 54.5 per cent audience share among three to five year olds and 25.4 per cent among six to nine year olds.

Based on the book series by children’s author Nick Butterworth, Q Pootle 5 follows the adventures of an alien and his friends. The series is produced by Snapper Productions and animated by Blue Zoo.

Q Pootle 5 currently airs in the UK on CBeebies and has been sold to over 70 countries to date.

Ben Butterworth of Snapper Productions, said: “Q Pootle 5 launched in Germany with incredible viewing figures and quickly established itself as one of the highest rated children’s shows across all networks.

“We are delighted to be partnering with WDR mediagroup for licensing and merchandise; the company is a major player in the region with a proven track record in the pre-school market and with their passion and appreciation of Q Pootle 5 we know Pootle and his chums are in safe hands.”

Andrea Zuska, WDR mediagroup, added: “We are proud to represent Q Pootle 5 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland as well as slelected other territories and look forward to cooperating with Snapper Productions on this charming and original children’s show.
