The potential for Q Pootle 5 toys is limitless, according to the creator of the programme – however Nick Butterworth has said he really wants partners to understand the world which has been created and the strong values of the show.

Owner of Snapper Productions and Q Pootle 5’s animator and producer, Butterworth has expressed his excitement at working with Rocket Licensing and the brand’s potential for licensing.

However, the popular children's author, famed for titles including Percy the Park Keeper, has insisted that toy deals will not be rushed in to.

"For products I think I would like to see the characters move in to, I wouldn't want to put any kind of limit on it. I would like to see lots happen for it," Butterworth told ToyNews.

Rocket has recently brokered a deal with Jumbo Games for a range of Q Pootle 5 puzzles and playing cards to hit retail across 2014 and 2015.

Butterworth continued: “I would like to see more children's books, plush cuddly toys as well as hard toy lines, I think these could be very good.

“People we have ended up working with are people we have shared values with, like Rocket. They are perfectly formed and a perfect fit for us.”

Butterworth has also revealed that though demand for Q Pootle 5 products is already picking up, he hopes the brand will only work with those who ‘understand the values of the show.’

“We have ended up working with a number of hand picked partners who really understand the world we have created and the values of the show. I want to see the kind of products that people would buy anyway, not just because they have seen it on TV.”

While Butterworth is keen that the brand extends into products that encompass the values of the Q Pootle world, he insists he is realistic in his approach.

“You have to make things realistically commercially viable, but you have to start out with a vision.

“We are setting out to produce quality characters and that is our aspiration for products.”
