Ragdoll's Anne Wood honoured at Mother & Baby Awards

Founder of Teletubbies and Night Garden creator picks up Lifetime Achievement accolade.

Ragdoll Productions' founder, Anne Wood, has been honoured at the Mother & Baby Awards, picking up the Lifetime Achievement prize.

The award is for Wood's 'outstanding' contribution to children's broadcasting around the world. Prior to founding Ragdoll Productions in 1984, Wood was responsible for shows including The Book Tower, Roland Rat and Rub a Dub Tub. She then went on to produce Rosie & Jim, Tots TV and Brum, before launching Teletubbies and In the Night Garden.

"It is with great pleasure that I accept this award," said Wood. "Producing television for children has never been more challenging, as budgets for children's programmes continue to shrink. I am very appreciative of this recognition which reflects the work of everyone at Ragdoll, who have worked so diligently on all our programmes over the past 26 years."

Wood and the team at Ragdoll are currently working on two original animated series for Cbeebies, due in 2011.
