Rainbow SpA has acquired its first third party brand - sealing a deal with Korean animation company Daewon for its new property, Gon.

Rainbow will handle the distribution and licensing rights in Europe.

Daewon has already started production on the series, which will be completed by the end of 2011. It is based on a manga property owned by Kodansha, the largest publication house in Japan.

Iginio Straffi, CEO at Rainbow SpA, said: "Our decision to take on a third party property is an indication of our strong belief in this unique and loveable property. We strongly believe in its potential and have high hopes for Gon's success."
