Random House Children's Books has teamed up with Komixx Entertainment to create a new company - Random House Children's Screen Entertainment.

The new firm will produce animated and live action children's and family entertainment for the cinema and television, exclusively from RHCB published books and characters.

Alongside this, RHCSE will also look to build relationships with feature film, internet and digital channels, as well as video game manufacturers, toy companies and other merchandisers.

The firm will be jointly owned by Random House and Komixx. Catherine Robins, MD of 2 Sides TV and minority shareholder has assisted with the creation of the new firm and will join RHCSE's management team. At RHCB, the venture will be led on a day to day basis by Fiona Macmillan, colour publisher.

Philippa Dickinson, MD of RHCB, said: "I'm delighted to get this new venture off the ground. It marks a huge step forward in terms of RHCB's ability to provide our authors and licensors with the perfect platform from which we can develop properties in a truly holistic manner - with regard to traditional and evolving means of delivering content."

Andrew Cole-Bulgin, joint CEO at Komixx, added: "With some of the biggest selling children's books in their catalogue, we look forward to working with Random House and benefitting from their global marketing reach."
