Penguin has promoted Richard Haines to acquisitions and new business manager with immediate effect.
Haines (pictured) has been with the firm since January 2012. He has been responsible for finding and developing upcoming brands to partner with, while also growing Penguin's established publishing portfolio with digital properties such as Skylanders and Moshi Monsters, and household names like LEGO and Peppa Pig.
In his new role, Haines will also take on responsibility for finding and developing new IP. Penguin is currently recruiting a licensing publishing executive to report directly to Haines.
"Penguin Children's has genuinely broken new ground with our acquisitions strategy, partnering with some of the most exciting global brands to publish books and products of the highest quality," said Francesca Dow, MD of Penguin Children's. "Rich has played a crucial role in that success and this promotion reflects that, as well as our ambition for future success with new IP which we are developing with new partners."
In the coming months, Penguin will be releasing new publishing for Angry Birds, while the BBC's live action series of Topsy and Tim is currently in production in a partnership with Darrall Macqueen.
A new Peter Rabbit animation also airs on the BBC from June 3rd in partnership with Nickelodeon and Silvergate.
