Rovio unveils new global books push for Angry Birds

Publishing partners include Centum Books, BPlus Mongolia, Le Lombard, Editions Larousse SAS Shanghai 99 and Gramedia Pustaka Utama.

Now that The Angry Birds Movie has hit cinemas, Rovio Entertainment has revealed that more than 20 publishers are jumping on board to develop books based on the property.

Kaiken Publishing has been working with various publishers in more than 30 different languages, to develop a line of physical and digital books, comics and magazines.

In the UK, Australia and US, Centum Books Ltd has released a full line of books, while Panini SPA has created a traditional sticker program, which will be available worldwide.

Elsewhere, Penguin Random House Grupo Editorial S.A.U. in Spain and Hachette Livre in France have launched a collection of story and activity books, while IDW is publishing The Art of The Angry Birds Movie, which will go behind the scenes of the new film.

“It’s always been our aim to offer stories to Angry Birds fans in their native languages,” said Kaiken Publisher and CEO, Laura Nevanlinna.

“Language truly builds a connection between the reader and the storyworld. We’re incredibly proud to have such an amazing group of partners on board and quite thrilled to be the first Finnish brand to create such a massive, global and simultaneously launched publishing program.”

Other partners include BPlus Mongolia, Le Lombard, Editions Larousse SAS Shanghai 99 and Gramedia Pustaka Utama.
