Chorion is confident that the early success achieved on TV for pre-school brand, The Octonauts will transfer to consumer products when the roll out begins later this year.
The show launched on Cbeebies in October 2010 and has become a strong performer for the channel in the 8am and 16.50pm time slots. The second series has been ordered and is currently in development.
Master toy partner, Fisher-Price will begin the initial launch of its range from August, with products including figures, vehicles and play-sets. Features include posable characters and colour change creatures, plus interactive GUP vehicles which propel in water or land, squirt water or chomp.
The toy launch will be supported by a full season of heavyweight TV advertising, press and PR activity.
Publishers are also on board for complementary books. Simon & Schuster will be first to launch in spring/summer in the UK, followed by Hachette Jeunesse for France.
