Sesame Workshop has launched two new multilingual apps for Windows phones and Nokia Symbian devices.

Grover's Number Special and Bert's Bag apps are the first official Sesame Street apps adapted in five languages, in addition to English.

Both apps include original Sesame Street video content and encourage visual discrimination, counting and number recognition, with a choice of English and one of five different local languages: Mandarin, Hindi, Spanish, Dutch and German.

"It's easy to do math at home and anywhere with your pre-schooler," said Scott Chambers, Sesame Workshop's SVP and general manager, Worldwide Media Distribution. "These latest apps featuring Sesame Street friends encourage children and their parents to look for simple objects to count, measure and organise."
