The Showcomotion Children's Media Conference has revealed that Peter Salmon - the new director for BBC North - will be making this year's keynote address.

Salmon will take up his new position in mid 2009 and will be based in Salford Quays in Greater Manchester where he will be directly responsible for BBC Children's.

At Showcomotion - which runs from July 1st to 3rd at the Showroom Cinema in Sheffield - Salmon will be talking about his views on the future of children's media and the BBC Children's move to Salford under his leadership.

Showcomotion is now the most important event of its kind in the kids' media and entertainment calendar in the UK. Up to 400 delegates from children's TV, film, radio, gaming and interactive will be heading to the event this summer for sessions, masterclasses and keynotes.

Early bird deadline for delegates is April 30th. The rate is £170 (plus VAT), which is almost 30 per cent off the full conference rate. Click here to go to the official site and register.
