Simon and Schuster Children's Books has struck a deal to publish a series of tie-in titles for the upcoming The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones movie.

Based on the bestselling author Cassandra Clare's series of novels, the publishing house will produce two tie-in books, The Shadowhunter's Guide and the Official Illustrated Movie Companion.

Both will hit retail on August 1st 2013.

The screen adaptation of the first title in Clare's fantasy series, City of Bones will hit cinemas on August 23rd 2013.

The series follows the adventures of a tribe of demon hunters with the purpose of ridding the world of demons.

And there are currently 12 million copies of Clare's novels in print across the globe.

The Guide will feature full colour photographic portraits and profiles on the film characters, quotes from the script and detailed information on the concepts of the series.

Meanwhile, the Companion will provide a behind the scenes look at the making of the movie and will feature colour photographs, designers sketches, interviews and more.
