Sky has secured the exclusive streaming rights to on-demand box sets of hit Turner properties Adventure Time and Gumball.

The pay TV operator will now add a new raft of programming to the Sky Kids app, including Cartoon Network’s popular series Adventure Time and The Regular Show.

The Powerpuff Girls reboot will also be added to Sky Kids alongside older episodes and past seasons of The Amazing world of Gumball and classic shows such as Scooby Doo, Tom & Jerry and Looney Tunes.

The long-term, exclusive deal will cover content from across Turner’s portfolio of broadcasters including Boomerang and Cartoonito as well as the flagship Cartoon Network channel.

Sky launched its kids app at the end of last month with 4,500 episodes of kids content and has said that the new Turner deal will help it ‘ensure Sky remains the best entertainment choice for children and their parents in the UK and Ireland.”

The deal arrives in the same month that sees the BBC launch its own BBC iPlayer Kids app.

Lucy Murphy, head of kids content at Sky, said: “Turner produces some of kids’ absolute favourite shows and we are really excited Sky will be the only place they can watch boxsets of The Amazing World of Gumball and Adventure Time.

“We want the millions of Sky families to have the very best kids’ entertainment available whenever and wherever they want to watch, including on the amazing new Sky Kids app.”
