Sony Pictures' and Marvel Studios' eagerly anticipated Spider-man 4 has been dated for May 6th 2011.
The news was revealed yesterday by Marvel, along with other details of its self-produced film slate which will see one of the firm's character-based movies launch during the summer box office season for three years in row, from 2010 through to 2012.
To date, all three motion pictures in the incredibly successful Spider-man franchise have generated almost $2.5 billion worldwide theatrically.
Elsewhere, Iron Man 2 will launch on May 7th 2010, followed by Thor on June 17th 2011, The First Avenger: Captain America on July 22nd 2011 and The Avengers on May 4th 2012.
"This new schedule strongly sequences Marvel's movie debut dates, big screen character introductions and momentum," said David Maisel, chairman of Marvel Studios. "It maximises the visibility of our single character-focused films, leading to the highly anticipated release of the multi-character The Avengers film in 2012."
