X Factor finalist and TV presenter Stacey Solomon visited London's Gainsborough Primary School last week to lead a singalong of the Pip Ahoy! theme, in front of Pip himself.

Gainsborough Primary School was the winner of a special nationwide competition run by iChild, a leading child development and child care education website.

Following the singalong, Pip and Stacey visited classrooms where the children had a chance to ask Stacey and Pip a question.

Gainsborough Primary School includes a number of special needs children and the teachers said meeting both Pip and Stacey was really special for them and made a massive difference to their day.

“The children have been so excited about Stacey and Pip visiting the school that we have had to contain their anticipation all week," said Samuel Cullen, teacher at Gainsborough Primary School.

"Pip Ahoy! is a particular favourite amongst the children and we have loved using the Pip education resource packs that have been produced as part of our lessons. Using children’s characters is a great way of helping children to get enthusiastic about learning.”

Solomon added: “I was so excited to be visiting the children at Gainsborough Primary School and loved their passion for the show. They were so welcoming and engaging that I did not want to leave.

"When I was asked to become involved in the Pip Ahoy! series, I jumped at it. I was so excited to be working on such a great children’s show and to work with such a talented team as well as meet David Jason who plays Pip’s uncle, Skipper, he is amazing and a real legend. “

The Pip Ahoy! themed education resource packs have been produced by iChild and available through their website. The packs are aimed at nursery, pre-school and child minders and have been prepared in conjunction with iChild’s educational consultants and cover all seven areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage learning areas.

iChild is also running Pip Ahoy! Month during October to encourage children to be as creative as possible with the Pip Ahoy! resources. As well as lesson plans and supporting activities there is extra fun craft and activities including character face masks, colouring sheets, finger puppets and more, all available to download for free.

Jenny Johnstone commercial director of CHF Entertainment added: “Since it started airing on Channel 5’s Milkshake in June, the Pip Ahoy! series has grown in popularity and excitement amongst pre-school children and their parents.

"We are delighted that our joint educational resource campaign with iChild has been so well received as children’s education is a key part of our programme production. Children learn best and most when they enjoy what they are doing and using animation as a tool to encourage and develop children’s learning is not only fun has proven to be very effective."
