Star Wars and Harry Potter help boost Lego

Firm now fourth largest toy manufacturer in the world; revenue and profit up in 2010.

The Lego Group enjoyed a strong 2010, with both its global and UK market share rising, helped by significant performances from the Star Wars and Harry Potter licences.

The firm says the latest results show that it is now the world’s fourth largest toy manufacturer. Its global market share rose from 4.8 per cent at the close of 2009 to approximately 5.9 per cent at the end of 2010.

Net profit for the year increased to £428 million, compared with £264 million in 2009. Meanwhile, sales for the year increased to £1,844 million from £1,394 million in 2009.
