Disney Infinity executives have dropped heavy hints that characters and themes from Disney’s Star Wars franchise will be joining the game in 2015.

The rumour mill was thrust into motion in an interview with John Blackburn, CEO of Disney Infinity studio Avalanche Software and Infinity executive producer, John Vignocchi.

In the feature with Newsarama, Blackburn told Vignocchi: “I like your other teaser better. We can talk about the future, but that’s far, far away.”

Vignocchi responded: “2015 is not so far, far away anymore, is it?”

Fans and reporters swiftly made the connection between the repartee and the opening lines of each Star Wars movie: A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away…

The hints have been dropped just weeks after Disney Infinity revealed a wave of various Marvel characters for its second generation release next month.

The Hollywood Reporter suggests that a 2015 release would coincide nicely with the release of Star Wars: Episode VII, scheduled to hit cinemas in December of the same year.
