Strawberry Shortcake aims for further growth in Latin America

American Greetings Properties reveals new deals for number one girls brand in Brazil.

AGP has unveiled a raft of new deals for its Strawberry Shortcake property across Latin America.

The new agreements were inked by Exim Licensing, Strawberry Shortcake's international licensing agent, on behalf of Cookie Jar's licensing arm, CPLG.

The deals include a renewed direct to retail partnership with Ripley in Chile, a live travelling show in Latin America, as well as eight additional licensees in Brazil.

These include the Disney Channel as broadcast partner for Berry Bitty Adventures; retail placement in more than 280 Pernambucanas stores; Nestle for chocolate Easter eggs; stickers and albums from Panini Brazil; bedding from Jolitex; Colibri for infant soft goods; party goods with Regina Industria; and Malwee Malhas for apparel.

"We have seen tremendous response to the Strawberry Shortcake brand in Latin America and are excited to be able to bring audiences more of the character they love," said Carla Silva, VP, global licensing at AGP.

With almost 500 licensees worldwide and retail sales revenue of $3.2 billion since 2003 alone, Strawberry Shortcake is a major force in the girls sector. Not bad for a 30 year-old.
