Strawberry Shortcake boosted in France

New animated TV series due to launch in early 2010, followed by licensed product roll out.

American Greetings Properties is continuing to grow the Strawberry Shortcake brand, with France being its latest target.

A new animated TV series - Berry Bitty Adventures - is launching on The Disney Channel in France in April 2010, followed by an October 2010 launch on M6.

M6 will also distribute the new DVD, Charlotte aux Fraises Tous unis pour Fraisi-Paradis (The Strawberry Shortcake Movie: The Sky's the Limit) from December.

Working with global licensing agent Cookie Jar Group and agency CPLG France, AGP is planning to launch a wide range of products in the country. The portfolio includes more than 50 licensees covering categories including publishing, apparel, footwear, toys and games, decoration, gift, health and beauty and confectionery.

"Her messages of friendship, fun and adventure are timeless; it's no wonder that girls everywhere continue to enjoy our cute little red-haired girl and her stories."

With almost 500 licensees worldwide and retail sales revenue of $3.2 billion since 2003 alone, Strawberry Shortcake is a major force in the girls sector. Not bad for a 30 year-old.
