Ahead of its UK launch this weekend, BKN has revealed some strong ratings for Dork Hunters from Outer Space in South Africa.
After four weeks, the audience rating for the show - which is screened on SABC1 in the territory - increased from 5.1 to 6.1 or 19.6 per cent. Viewers increased from 192,219 to 229,299.
The ratings reflect the start the show enjoyed on Clan/TVE in Spain earlier in the year. As a result, the channel has already scheduled the second season to be broadcast this autumn.
"The ratings speak for themselves; Dork Hunters was clearly by far the highest share in its timeslot," said Peter Kwele, general manager of marketing and communications at SABC Content Enterprises. "South African kids love comedy and have taken to the humour immediately."
Dork Hunters is due to launch in the UK this weekend (Sunday August 17th) on GMTV. Network Ten in Australia will follow next, launching in the first week of September, with broadcasts in further major international markets rolling out in 2009.
The master toy line created by Character Options will hit UK shelves in October, supported by an extensive pre-Christmas TV ad campaign.
