Subway Surfers secures first licensees

Popular app property launches first lines in apparel, nightwear and arcade games.

Subway Surfers has signed its first licensing deals.

The app brand will enter the apparel, nightwear and arcade games categories.

The deal was struck by Ink, the global representatives for the growing property.

Isaac Morris will produce junior apparel, while AME will deliver junior nightwear and Coastal Amusements will supply arcade games worldwide.

To celebrate the new deals, new world tour versions of the game are being released throughout 2013 featuring New York City, Rio, Rome and Sydney.

Launched last year, Subway Surfers is a 3D platform game allowing players to control young graffiti artists, who must evade railway security and dodge trains to collect coins.

The app - currently number two in the iPhone chart in the US, Russia, France and Brazil - has recorded 160 million downloads to date with an average of 26.5 million people playing the game each day.

Ink director Claus Tomming said: "It is very exciting to be announcing the first deals in the Subway Surfers programme and these will be the first of many for what is one of the hottest digital brands on the market."

Subway Surfers is driven by a global team of sub-agents, with Firefly Brand Management in the US, License Connection in Benelux, Segal Licensing in Canada and Active Merchandising in Germany.

Ink represents the brand across Nordics, Eastern Europe and Russia.

The brand is currently in talks with agents in Oceania, Asia, South America and India.
